Family Activities

Whilst we are closed we'd like to stay in touch! Every fortnight (starting on 29 April) an activity pack, 'Wesley's Wednesday Challenge', will be sent out on our mailing list (sign up at the bottom of the page and tick 'Events' under John Wesley's House and Museum). It will also be listed here:

Wesley's Wednesday Challenge - Health

Wesley's Wednesday Challenge - Hope

Wesley's Wednesday Challenge - Victorians

Wesley Day

This year we are celebrating Wesley Day a bit differently! As we can't hold our usual re-enactment day we're bringing the activities to you. The activity sheets can be printed out to try at home, or completed on a tablet, and we’d love you to share any photos with us on our social media channels: Facebook, Twitter and Instagram

The Kitchen
Have a go at making wigs and rosewater macaroons for a Wesley Day celebration: Recipes from the kitchen - Wesley Day

Explore the House
Our Wesley Day themed activities include puzzles, a scavenger hunt and craft activities: A Celebration for Wesley Day

Lace making
Lace making was a popular pastime in the 18th century but it was also a vital trade and income for those that were less well off. Our resident lace makers have developed this information sheet to tell you more about the craft. We've added a new colouring activity for 24 May: Bobbin Lace - Wesley Day

Curator's Picks
Our Curator, Christian Dettlaff, has picked a selection of objects especially for the occasion: Curator's Picks - Wesley Day

Keep up to date on what is happening by checking our events, Twitter and Facebook.
